For My Mother, On Her Birthday
Today, Mom, is a day I hold close to my heart,
The day you came into this world—a light from the start.
And though you’ve gone, your spirit fills the air,
A love so deep, it still meets me everywhere.
You taught me strength, the kind that runs deep,
To stand tall in truth, a promise to keep.
With gentle hands, you led me through,
Guiding each step as only you knew.
Even when shadows took your sight,
You fought with grace, your spirit bright.
Two decades you walked in that endless night,
But you feared no dark, became your own light.
You left me with more than words could say—
A sense of self that won’t decay.
You taught me to own all I am and do,
To honor what’s real, to see things through.
Now I carry your love, though a void remains,
A hollow echo of joy and pains.
Yet somehow, I feel you’re free at last,
Unbound by the struggles of your past.
I picture you with Grandma, with Grandpa there too,
Seeing them clearly, feeling brand new.
No pain, no blindness—just light and grace,
The most peaceful look upon your face.
So on this day, I’ll honor your birth,
The woman who gave my life its worth.
My best friend, my guide, my heart and my soul,
You’re part of me now, a piece of the whole.
Happy Birthday, Mom, wherever you are—
You shine on me still, my forever star.
