Mellow Yellow
July’s here, folks, and you know what that means – it’s time for our Monthly Colour Challenge! This month, we’re basking in the golden glory of the color Yellow. Yes, we know we picked Yellow two years ago, but who says we can’t have an encore? Think of it as Yellow’s greatest hits tour. So grab your sunglasses, because things are about to get bright!
The Plan
Picture it: a casual get-together at our favorite café. The usual suspects are all there: Jenny, the queen of crafts; Tom, our resident poet; Lisa, the shutterbug; and me, your humble narrator with a knack for getting distracted.
“Yellow again, huh?” Tom said, sipping his coffee. “Wasn’t it two years ago?”
“Yes,” Jenny chimed in, her eyes twinkling. “But yellow is timeless. It’s the color of sunshine, happiness, and… bananas.”
Lisa laughed, adjusting her camera lens. “Bananas aside, it’s a great choice. Let’s get creative!”
Jenny’s Crafty Corner
Jenny was already knee-deep in her craft supplies, pulling out yellow ribbons, paper, and what looked like an impressive collection of buttons.
“So, what’s the plan, Craft Queen?” I asked.
“I’m thinking we go all out,” Jenny said with a grin. “Wreaths, cards, maybe even a giant sunflower display. The possibilities are endless!”
As she started gluing buttons onto a bright yellow canvas, she added, “And don’t worry, there’s glitter. Lots and lots of glitter.”
Tom’s Poetic Prowess
Tom, ever the wordsmith, was jotting down lines in his trusty notebook. I peered over his shoulder, curious.
“Writing an ode to yellow?” I asked.
“Something like that,” he said, smiling. “Yellow is such a cheerful color. It’s like a hug in the form of light. Or the taste of lemonade on a hot day.”
He paused, tapping his pen against his chin. “Maybe I’ll write a series of haikus. Short, sweet, and to the point. Just like summer.”

Lisa’s Shutterbug Shenanigans
Lisa was already snapping away, capturing the essence of yellow in the most unexpected places. She showed us a sneak peek of her latest shots – a field of sunflowers, a golden retriever puppy, and a lemon tree basking in the sun.
“Gorgeous, right?” she said, beaming. “I want to show how yellow can brighten up even the dullest days.”
“Speaking of brightening up,” I said, “are we going to ignore the fact that you have a photo of a cat wearing a yellow bow tie?”
Lisa laughed. “Nope, that’s Mr. Whiskers. He insisted on joining the challenge.”
My Turn to Shine
With everyone else in full creative mode, I felt a little pressure to contribute. But what could I do that would be as awesome as Jenny’s crafts, Tom’s poetry, or Lisa’s photos?
“Hey,” Jenny said, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Why don’t you write something funny about yellow?”
“Like what?” I asked, stalling for time.
“Anything!” Lisa chimed in. “Make it funny, witty, and relatable. You’re good at that.”
So, here I am, sharing our Yellow Challenge shenanigans with you. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that creativity is best when shared with friends. And if there’s another thing we’ve learned, it’s that yellow – whether in crafts, poetry, or photos – has a way of making everything a little bit brighter.

The Big Reveal
Fast forward to the end of the month, and we gathered again to showcase our creations. Jenny’s sunflower display was a work of art, glittering and gleaming in all its yellow glory. Tom’s haikus were taped up around the café, each one a little burst of sunshine. Lisa’s photos were displayed in a mini-gallery, capturing the spirit of yellow in ways we hadn’t imagined.
As for me? I read this post aloud, sharing our journey of creativity, laughter, and, of course, that damn cat in the yellow bow tie.
We raised our cups in a toast. “To yellow,” Jenny said, “and to making the most of every moment.”
“To yellow,” we echoed, clinking our cups together.
So, dear reader, how will you embrace the yellow challenge? Whether it’s through words, pictures, poetry, or rhyme, we can’t wait to see what you create. Here’s to a July filled with sunshine, laughter, and all the yellow your heart desires!
