You settled into your seat at the trendy new bistro that everyone had been raving about. The ambiance was all exposed brick and mood lighting, with a hint of jazz wafting through the air. The waiter handed you a menu with a flourish, and you eagerly opened it, anticipating some mouthwatering options.

Only, what was written inside wasn’t merely a listing of food. Nope, this was something else entirely.

The first page greeted you with: “Today’s Specials: Existential Dread with a Side of Ennui”. You blinked. Surely, you read that wrong. But no, the next item was even more baffling: “Sautéed Regrets with a Sprinkle of What-Ifs”.

You looked up to see if anyone else was as perplexed as you. The couple at the next table seemed completely unfazed, deep in conversation about the latest episode of some true-crime podcast.

Turning the page, you found “Deconstructed Self-Esteem on a Bed of Arugula” and “Grilled Ambitions with a Reduction of Broken Dreams”. The descriptions were written with such care and flair, you almost considered ordering something just to see what would happen.

Next came the desserts: “Crème Brûlée of Unanswered Texts” and “Mousse of Missed Opportunities”. The waiter returned, looking absolutely serious. “Can I take your order?” he asked, as if everything on the menu was completely normal.

You cleared your throat. “Uh, yes. I’ll have the Optimism Quiche with a side of Irony, please.”

The waiter nodded approvingly. “Excellent choice, sir. And for drinks, might I suggest our signature cocktail, ‘Hope on the Rocks’?”

You couldn’t help but laugh. When your order finally arrived, it was just as bizarre as the menu had promised. But, strangely enough, it was also delicious. Maybe there was something to this abstract approach to dining, after all.

As you left the bistro, you felt oddly satisfied. Not just from the meal, but from the experience itself. Sometimes, a little absurdity is just what the doctor ordered. 😄!
