Love, Shapeshifted

“Coral Summer Floral”, a new abstract floral painting series. All 12 x 12 x .75 inches pink theme flower painting. It is an original unframed acrylic painting. It is created by my imagination and blended with my sense of color and nature. This new style of abstract painting allows me to create unique paintings spontaneously.

Scene: A Quirky Coffee Shop

Characters:

  • Saphiyaah: A perpetually single woman with a penchant for quirky coffee shops.
  • Jackson: The shapeshifter who’s been trying to win Saphiyaah’s heart across multiple forms.

INT. COFFEE SHOP – DAY

Saphiyaah sits at a corner table, sipping her almond milk latte. Jackson, in his latest form—a bespectacled barista named Alex—approaches.

JACKSON (Alex): (leaning on the counter) “Hey, Saphiyaah. The usual?”

SAPHIYAAH: (smiling) “Yep, Alex. You know me so well.”

JACKSON (Alex): (leaning in, conspiratorial) “Listen, Saphiyaah, I’ve been thinking. Maybe it’s time we—”

SAPHIYAAH: (interrupting) “—try a different coffee blend? I mean, I love my hazelnut mochas, but variety is the spice of life, right?”

JACKSON (Alex): (frustrated) “No, not the coffee! I mean us. You and me. We’ve been doing this dance for centuries.”

SAPHIYAAH: (raising an eyebrow)Centuries? Alex, you’re cute, but I’m pretty sure I’d remember dating someone for centuries.”

JACKSON (Alex): (leaning even closer) “Okay, fine. Not centuries. But lifetimes. I’ve been every guy you’ve ever dated. The clumsy one who spilled wine on your favorite dress? That was me. The one who ghosted you after three dates? Guilty. And the guy who tried to impress you with his interpretive dance skills? Yep, that was—”

SAPHIYAAH: (eyes widening) “Wait, you’re saying—”

JACKSON (Alex): “I’m Jackson. The shapeshifter. The one who’s been trying to get it right. Every. Damn. Time.”

SAPHIYAAH: (stunned) “But why? Why keep coming back?”

JACKSON (Alex): “Because you’re my open wound, Saphiyaah. The one I can’t heal. I’ve tried being the bad boy, the sensitive artist, the tech geek. But nothing sticks. So, here I am, serving lattes and hoping you’ll notice.”

SAPHIYAAH: (softly) “Jackson, I—”

JACKSON (Alex): “Don’t say it. I know. It’s crazy. But when you smile, it’s like the sun peeking through storm clouds. And I want to be the reason behind that smile.”

SAPHIYAAH: (leaning in) “You know, Jackson, I’ve always believed in second chances. But centuries? That’s commitment.”

JACKSON (Alex): “I’m all in, Saphiyaah. This time, I’ll be the guy who remembers your birthday, who listens when you talk about your dreams, who doesn’t spill wine on your dress.”

SAPHIYAAH: (grinning) “Well, Jackson, maybe it’s time to break the cycle. Let’s see if you can get it right.”

They clink their coffee cups, and the air hums with possibility.

Author’s Note:

Dear reader, love isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes it’s a quirky barista who’s been practicing for lifetimes. So next time you’re at a coffee shop, take a closer look. Your soulmate might be the one who always spells your name wrong on the cup. ☕️❤️

End scene.
