She threw back the glass of wine and stormed out of the room, her footsteps echoing through the silent hall. The party behind her buzzed with murmurs, but she paid no mind. Outside, the night was cold and crisp, the stars hidden behind a veil of clouds. She pulled her coat tighter around her, her breath visible in the frosty air.

As she walked, memories of the argument replayed in her mind. Each word, each slight, fueled the fire within her. She couldn’t understand how things had gotten so twisted, how the person she once loved could now feel like a stranger. The wine had been a poor attempt to calm her nerves, but it only heightened her frustration.

The city streets were quiet, the usual hustle subdued by the late hour. She wandered aimlessly, the anger slowly giving way to a dull ache of sadness. She reached the park, its empty benches and leafless trees standing in stark contrast to the lively party she had left. She sat down, the cold seeping through her coat, and buried her face in her hands.

In the stillness, she let herself cry. The tears were hot against her chilled skin, a release of all the pent-up emotions she had held back for so long. She cried for the love lost, for the dreams shattered, for the person she no longer recognized in the mirror.

After what felt like hours, she finally lifted her head. The clouds had parted, revealing a sky dotted with stars. The beauty of it struck her, a reminder that even in darkness, there was still light to be found. She took a deep breath, feeling the crisp air fill her lungs, and stood up.

She wasn’t sure what the future held, but she knew she couldn’t stay trapped in the past. With a newfound resolve, she turned back towards the city, ready to face whatever came next. The night was still, but within her, a storm had passed.
