Our host for today’s post is Sammi Scribbles and they bring to us this Weekend Writing Prompt #360: This weekend your challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 66 words using the word “Expire”.

Life, a fleeting lease,
Moments, hours, swiftly expire,
Breaths tally up, scores in quiet.
Days cascade like dominos tipped,
Each sunrise a gift, each sunset swift.
In love, we find the time to stretch,
In loss, seconds break and fetch
Memories to guard against the wane,
Embers to stoke when we’re again
Summoned back to where all expired,
To the infinite, our souls aspire.
