Let’s dive into the poetic world of this week’s TankaTuesday, the challenge invites poets to choose’ kigo’ words from a past season or the Early Cold challenge. The poetry form and season are open, but a ‘kigo’ word must be included. We have Poet’s Choice, as it’s the third week of the Early Cold season. For the dramatic poem, I’ll focus on the nature of a “withering wind” from early winter, contrasting it with a past season, say late autumn. And for the second, more light-hearted piece, I’ll use “snowflakes” and juxtapose them with a playful memory from summer.

Dramatic Tanka:
In late autumn’s grasp,
Leaves whispered their last goodbyes,
Withering wind cries,
Carrying winter’s first frost,
Echoing lost warmth and cost.

Light-Hearted Haiku:
Snowflakes dance in jest,
Summer’s sun in their twinkle,
Winter’s playful wink.
These poems aim to encapsulate the essence of the seasons while adhering to the traditional forms and themes.
